A seminar was hold in the headquarters of the Barcelona Bar Association on Thursday, July 19, 2018, to establish the basis on which the Charter Citizens’ rights in the Digital Age should be drafted, led by the President of the Bar Association, Mª Eugenia Gay and the member of the governing board responsible for the Commission of Digital Transformation and president of ENATIC, Rodolfo Tesone.
The conviction that technological progress is unstoppable, that it allows numerous improvements for society, but also highlights the existence of risks for people’s rights, as essential as the right to privacy or the right to honor or reputation, makes it mandatory to rethink a new regulation that contemplates the technological irruption and places the citizens and the respect for their rights in the center of attention.
Therefore, we must work from transversal and international standpoint, collaborating with different sectors of society, and through a participatory process.
This has been the starting point for the celebration of the seminar in which the participants have put in common reflections on the bases that they must sustain and on which the Charter for Citizens’ Rights in the Digital Era must be written: ethics, social and democratic responsibility, inclusive formulas to address territorial, gender and social differences…
The seminar was led by the Bar Association President, Mª Eugenia Gay, and the member of the Governing Board responsible for Digital Transformation, Rodolfo Tesone, in collaboration with the Mobile World Capital, and with the participation of ENATIC , the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Polytechnic University of Barcelona-Barcelona-Tech, the Pompeu Fabra University, the Internet Society, the Inclusion and Digital Training Service of the Ministry of Digital Policies and Public Administration of the Generalitat of Catalonia, MIT-Spain, Barcelona Tech City, IFCLA, ISACA, ASCOM, representatives of the lawyers and the business world, INCIBE and the Digital Transformation Commission of the ICAB.
